Why Knot - Fine Art Original
BF25
The Great Knot (Calidris tenurostris) is a medium-sized shorebird with a striking appearance. During the breeding season, the Great Knot transforms with a lovely touch of romance—a black band adorned with loveheart-shaped speckles across their chest ❤️🖤
Their journey is nothing short of epic. From Australia to Siberia, many Great Knots embark on a direct flight spanning around 6,000 kilometers! ✈️🌏
But these incredible birds face challenges. In 2006, the loss of their critical stopover site in Korea resulted in a staggering one-third population decline. Today, they're listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List and as Critically Endangered in Australia 🆘
