This drawing was from a collection of studies, that were part of my research for a finished Koala drawing. Sadly, Koalas became officially classified as Enadangered in 2022. Factors driving this listing include climate change, habitat loss, bushfires, disease, and even encounters with both vehicles and domestic dogs. This iconic Aussie animal is really struggling.
Koalas are picky eaters, eating only a small selection eucalypt species leaves. Much energy is conserved eating these, and as a result, koalas tend to spend a good amount of time sleeping!
